Kambo Practitioner and Teacher
Meet Our Facilitator & Trainer
My name is Johnny Sage. About fifteen years ago I was going through immense personal challenges. I was struggling with anxiety, depression, racing thoughts/brain fog, PTSD, and physical health issues. It seemed like I was in a completely hopeless situation with no clear way out. But after hitting a couple of rock bottoms and realizing I couldn’t go on the way I was, I did the inner and outer work which resulted in completely turning my life around. And rather quickly at that.
Kambo was certainly one of the medicines that helped me early on in that stage of my healing journey. I sat with the medicine in 2017 and despite the practitioner administering too much Hape and not giving me a warning that the Sananga would burn, the Kambo itself made such a difference for me. I was so relaxed afterwards and felt very embodied.
Over the next year and a half, I did two lunar cycles and some other single sessions when my favorite practitioner at the time announced he was going to run a traditional Kambo training program with the Matses tribe in Peru. I felt this is how a medicine like this should be learned and I really wanted to honor the tribe, so I applied, was accepted, and went.
The training was intense and some ethical issues were exposed with the person who was running the program along the way, but I truly believe this was still the way to do it and if the areas where there were shortcomings were corrected then it’d be an amazing way to teach the future practitioners with integrity.
The tribe has been asking me to organize it since 2019 but I felt I wasn’t ready and in 2020 it was hard to travel internationally for a couple years. Finally, in 2023 I felt it was time and worked really hard to set it up.
I’m excited to share this opportunity with all of you, conducted in the manner I wish it was when I went through it.
If you’re interested in serving the medicine ethically and in a way that works with the tribe, this training might be just the one for you!
